Summit School Addition

The new addition was designed to reflect the existing buildings while creating a distinct presence on the site. Site context, durability and sustainability influenced the choice of materials for the building. The building is clad in brick and fibrous cement panels. The brick reflects the existing conditions while the cement panels, in their natural patina finish, are installed in a reinterpretation of traditional fish scale siding. The natural finish and the demountability of the panels enhance the sustainability of the project. Overall environmental impact was reduced by minimizing the use of applied finishes.
